World Hepatitis Testing Week Continues

With viral hepatitis, other than getting tested, there may not be any indicators for determining whether you’ve been exposed to or have a current viral hepatitis (hepatitis C (HCV) or hepatitis B (HBV)) infection. As a result, although vaccines and treatment options exist, many people remain undiagnosed with ongoing liver damage and potential to transmit the virus.

The World Hepatitis Alliance is offering lots of resources for this week

Online Event: Scaling up hepatitis B within triple elimination programmes

When: Thursday, November 20th at 5:00 AM PST (an early for BC, global event!)

Triple elimination of the vertical transmission (EVT) of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B will save thousands of lives each year and are also key to achieving hepatitis elimination. By simplifying access to testing for pregnant women, triple elimination enables timely interventions to prevent vertical transmission – the most common cause of chronic hepatitis B. It is also a gateway to family testing, ensuring that more people living with hepatitis B are diagnosed and linked to treatment and care. As part of World Hepatitis Testing Week, the World Hepatitis Alliance is hosting a webinar to explore the critical role of triple elimination as part of comprehensive hepatitis programmes. It will discuss different approaches to scaling up EVT services and how different stakeholders can collectively work together to drive progress towards triple elimination.
