Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a continuing international epidemic and an important public health issue in Canada. The Public Health Agency of Canada works in partnership with other organizations to conduct surveillance on newly diagnosed cases of HIV in Canada. This webinar will present the major epidemiological findings from the forthcoming publication HIV in Canada: Surveillance Report, 2016. Surveillance data will be presented by geographic location, sex, age group, exposure category and race/ethnicity, with a focus on cases diagnosed in 2016. The webinar will also highlight recent trends and findings in the surveillance of other sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections in Canada, including hepatitis C virus.
