Over the past 22 years, Friends for Life has provided support to a remarkable number of people, many of whom have come to see the house as their second home. We are humbled to be part of so many lives and proud to be included on their path of wellness.
Despite its many successes, Friends for Life has also faced many challenges. It is a harsh reality that these challenges have built up to a point where the operation is now seriously jeopardized. After careful consideration and conversation, this has brought the Board of Directors to the sad decision to suspend the business and services as of March 31, 2016.
There will be much soul-searching and investigation during this period of suspension. We will talk with our community leaders and sister organizations, we will explore similar programs offered throughout North America, and we will ask advisors and clients to comment on our work and proposals. In time, we aim to put together a comprehensive plan to renew the viability of Friends for Life and the vibrancy of its services.
It is also our hope that, while the operation will be suspended for several months, we will be able to retain a few limited services throughout this period. We care deeply about our clients and we do not want Friends for Life to disappear from their lives.
Words cannot express how truly sorry we are for this unavoidable decision and the resulting consequences to our clients and community.
This is a sad time for Friends for Life, but we remain optimistic for a renewed organization. It is our sincere hope that you remain with us in support and positive spirit.
More than ever, this is a time when we need our friends to stand by us and to lend us a helping hand.
