Community Action Fund timelines – Public Health Agency of Canada

phacThe Public Health Agency of Canada sent the following correspondence to PAN, which we would like to share with our member agencies:

Good afternoon.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your comments on Public Health Agency of Canada’s (Agency) approach to the Community Action Fund (CAF) and to provide you with an update on the status of the initiative.

As you are aware, we continued our discussions with stakeholders on the CAF  this past summer. Your insightful feedback on this initiative has been carefully reviewed and the Agency’s approach to the CAF is currently under refinement . We will be re-engaging with our stakeholders in the coming month to report back on what we heard and to update you on how we have incorporated your feedback into the direction of the funding program.

The Agency is also working on developing a number of other documents for the solicitation, including the Letter of Intent (LOI) application and a webinar presentation for completing the LOI.  The LOI and the webinar presentation will be available to potential applicants upon the launch of the LOI call.

In July, stakeholders signaled to the Agency that the anticipated November 2015 launch for the solicitation was too soon.  In light of that advice, the Agency will postpone the launch of the solicitation to early 2016.  Once a launch date is confirmed, we will send you all another email with the web link to the CAF funding opportunity.

It has come to our attention that some stakeholders are of the impression that the Agency would be extending the funding arrangements of current projects beyond March 31, 2017, rather than launching a solicitation.  We would like to confirm that the Agency will launch the solicitation for the Community Action Fund in early 2016 and therefore will not be extending currently funded projects past March 31, 2017.

Thank you again for your continued engagement and support.  We will keep you informed of any other developments as they unfold.
