This morning a group of community leaders, advocates, and researchers had a productive meeting with the office of the federal Minister of Health. Speakers such as Margaret Kisikaw Piyesis from CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks and Wangari Tharao from Women’s Health in Women’s Hands elaborated on the priorities shared in the open letter. They are hopeful for positive follow-up actions.

LetsStopAIDS, Reach Nexus, and others invite you to join other HIV advocates and organizations across Canada by signing on to this open letter. HIV Advocates are calling on the Government of Canada to step up funding and leadership in the fight against HIV, both globally and here at home.
Canada has been a global leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS — but that progress is now at risk. New HIV diagnoses in Canada have risen by 85% since 2020, and global funding shortfalls threaten millions of lives.
Now’s the time to step up, not step back.
By investing in community-driven, trauma-informed, and culturally safe programs, we can save lives, close health gaps, and ensure everyone — especially Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities — has access to the care and support they deserve.
PAN supports this call and urges our members to do the same.
Read and sign the collective open letter to Mark Carney’s government.
