COAST study seeks Community Advisory Board members

A team of academic and community researchers with the The Comparative Outcomes And Service Utilization Trends (COAST) study at the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BCCfE) is establishing a Community Advisory Board (CAB).The COAST CAB will bring together a group of people who are living with, and at risk of, HIV to give feedback on the COAST study. CAB members will be asked to provide their input about issues that are important in their own lives, and in their communities.

The COAST CAB is being set up to help shape the research studies that are based on COAST data. This may mean providing ideas for what issues are thought to be important to communities to study using COAST data, or providing input on studies that are already set up. The CAB’s feedback is important for making sure that the needs of the community are understood. It is important that community members’ most important issues drive what is studied, and how it is studied

The CAB will comprise of 5-10 members andthe team is committed to learning from: people living with and at risk for HIV. In particular we will aim to ensure committee membership includes people who self identify as: women, transgender, Indigenous people, people who use drugs and peers from diverse communities.

An honorarium of $30 per hour will be offered to CAB members. Additionally, members will be reimbursed for the cost of child care and transportation required to attend meetings.

If you are interested in becoming a CAB member, or if you know someone who would be interested in participating in the CAB, please refer to this form.

If you have trouble accessing the form, please reach out to us and we will collect your name, phone number, email ID (if you have) and why are you interested in joining the CAB.
