With Winter 2013 registration opening on November 19th, it is important that users be aware of several changes to the Skills Online program.
Developed by the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Skills Online program is an award-winning online bilingual program that supports public health practitioners to continue their education and strengthen their knowledge and skills to meet the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada.
In the past, Skills Online modules had to cap registration numbers, and required pre-requisites for all of the modules. Beginning in the Winter
2013 session, Skills Online will introduce the following changes to the program:
• reduced wait lists for each learning module;
• fewer prerequisites;
• low-cost administration fee for facilitated modules ($75 – $175), self-directed modules continue to be offered at no cost;
• modules are mapped to the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada; and,
• new modules in development to be launched in 2013 and beyond
(Privacy and Confidentiality for Public Health Practitioners, Health Literacy, Introduction to Core Competencies, and Introduction to Evaluation).
These changes will allow more learners to participate in the Skills Online program, as well as help to support sustainability of the program and ongoing improvement and expansion of the modules being offered.
Step by step instructions for payment are provided during the registration process.
